… is a very VERY long road. You will find yourself dealing with low numbers of reads and clicks and the frustration of having to write a monthly or weekly newsletter only to find 55 people reading it.
Building up a subscriber base for a newsletter takes a long time – especially one where the majority actually want to see your content and read what you are writing. I have a client that makes one monthly newsletter with an article in depth explaining about certain health elements, referring to studies, a little anecdote at times perhaps, and despite her having just about 400 people receiving it with a engagement rate equivalent to the industry standard, the newsletters provide her with a lot more than marketing. Most of the content she writes has nothing to do with selling her retreats or offer any free consultations or anything, but mainly about telling her stories and talk about what is going on in order to help herself understand it and help her followers and readers learn from it.
E-mail marketing should be made interesting and done for the purpose of giving your readers something important to engage with – not just a gateway to spam out your new products and Black Friday sales.
The road to email marketing is very long, but by doing it with a purpose and not with the goal of making a profit every time, the road will seem shorter as you keep doing it.
