You have to take good care of yourself, exercise regularly, eat properly, and make sure you treat yourself right. Especially if you are self employed, it can sometimes be difficult to focus on yourself, getting enough sleep, eating – you probably have experienced pushing yourself due to a deadline, ordering take away, spending all night working just to continue the day after again.
Lack of sleep, lack of proper nutrition, not giving your brain time to be stupid and relax are some of the key elements in building up stress, and eventually it will haunt you, cause the more you push yourself now in order to finalise something, the poorer the result is going to be. You can’t take care of your work if you can’t care of yourself.
I sometimes find myself tired at office close to midnight, and know that I have deliveries the next day which have to be done. But I have also realised that sometimes it is much more efficient for me to call it a day, and then go to office one hour earlier the next day in order to finish everything. I have a lot more energy in the morning and can focus and execute a lot faster.
So be sure to allow yourself some time to rest, go out to eat if you don’t have the energy to cook, and let the work wait a little.
