Read the same book twice

Whenever you are studying something new, learning a new technique, understanding a new language, you usually get access to a lot of nice material. For me it often happens whenever I have to get familiar with a new programming language, and I stumble across a rather interesting video or article. The first time I go through it, a lot of things are new to me, and it can seem a little overwhelming to have to understand all of it at once.

In my case I learned a lot from actually coding along and then trying out something myself, having to solve some new issues not covered by the material I studied from. After some times working on some smaller projects and learning from other resources I tend to have a look at the initial material as again. This time my brain is able to look past the things that I already understand, and then catch up on all the smart features that might have been the overwhelming part the first time.

So I can really recommend reading or watching the same material twice, cause you can really get some nice concepts given from good material. The same for good movies.. The first time you watch it, you may have missed an essential part, and then next time you watch you will be like “Ohh… that’s what happened!”.. Same with studying.. Second time you will get the “AHA!”-experience.
